Pakistan Student Ambassadors Revisit Local Neighbourhood With Lunar Telescope
26 October 2017

On 6 October, Saif and Yumna conducted a second lunar observation session in their neighbourhood in Lahore, Pakistan. Mr. Roshaan Bukhari was kind enough to provide the student ambassadors with the telescope from before.

“The reason for doing another lunar observation session was because many children in our community requested to do it again, because they wanted to know more about the Moon. This time, there was an even greater turnout, including children as well as adults.”

As in the first lunar observation, subjects of the lecture concerned various aspects of the Moon and other moons, as well as the difference between astrology and astronomy. These activities were repeated because the majority of the audience present did not attend the first lunar observation session on 4 October 2017.

“Again, there were a lot of questions from their side, so we made sure to answer all of them. Once we were done with the lecture, we held another short quiz to prove to the learning effect.”

Saif Ullah Khan is an 18 year old A levels student at Lahore Grammar School Johar Town Senior Boys Branch in Lahore, Pakistan, and head of the Astronomical Society there. Yumna Majeed (19 year old) studies Medical Lab Technology at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan and is head of the Science Club there.
